Sad losses

Representatives of the choir attended the funeral today (11th February 2019) of Lilian Crockett, wife of long standing life long member Dennis Crockett. She died very suddenly and quite unexpectedly and will be missed by all her family. She originally hailed from Leytonstone in Essex before being evacuated to Somerset during WWII. She was to stay here meeting Dennis who she married in 1948. She worked for STC and later was to work for Brixham College until her retirement. She loved her family but at the same time had an active social life and was a very worthy supporter of the choir. The service, conducted by Mr Peter Haywood reflected her life so well, being attended by family, friends, neighbours, former ‘Paras’ and choir members. In recognition of her strong choir links, Ron in his capacity as organist played a number of melodies so well known to the choir. We all wish Dennis and his family well at this sad time.

The choir has also received news that Gwen Andrews, wife of choir member Clem Andrews died recently. She moved away from Brixham to be nearer her family a few years ago. However, she will be remembered for her love of the choir and the kind and gentle person that she was.
