St John’s Church echoes the sound of two local Choirs

Last Saturday, St John’s Church, Totnes welcomed two visiting choirs in the form of Plymouth Area Police Choir and the Brixham Orpheus Male Voice Choir. In aid of church funds, both choirs took the opportunity to join together for two old favourites at the start and finish of the concert, of ‘Llanfair’ and ‘Morte Criste’. With a combined choir of sixty plus choristers they raised the roof filling the church with ambient sound. Throughout the evening each choirs drew from a complete range of songs from Elvis Presley, through songs from the shows, entertaining their audience with familiar and less well-known tunes. In addition, concert goers were treated to the wonderful sound of ‘Devon Close Harmony Quartet’, with their rich mix of barbershop and cappella music bringing a real breadth of song to the evening. The concert raised £600.00 to help the church continue with their replacement windows fund.
