Choir Remembers its Own

The Brixham Orpheus Male Voice Choir remembered its own over the last fortnight following the death of two members over the Christmas period.

Stanley Mitchelmore, known as Stan died on 21 December after prolonged illnesses. He was a choir member for many years and was very proud of his long service award of 15 years. Stan lived in Dartmouth and after leaving the choir continued to enjoy his music, singing and his other passion fishing. His funeral was held at Torquay Crematorium where choir members were proud to be present. Stan is survived by his wife Mae and the wider family.

Grenville Bell died in Torbay Hospital on Boxing Day following a bout of pneumonia. Grenville had always enjoyed singing being a chorister at Central Church, Torquay, a long-standing member of Torbay Police and Community Choir for 27 years and latterly a member of Brixham Orpheus Male Voice Choir. His sudden death was a shock to both choirs who joined together to sing at his funeral, held last Friday which in Central Church, Torquay. Grenville is survived by his wife Marjorie and their two sons Andrew and Roger.

In both cases these two gentlemen will be sorely missed by their families and friends. They made valuable contributions to the Brixham Orpheus Male Voice Choir and will be remembered for their dedication, support and commitment to the passion that they both shared.
